Shahadah

I did it I said the Shahada. I proclaimed that Allah is the only sovereign Lord and Muhamad, peace be upon him, is his prophet.

La ilaha illa Allah wa-Muhammad rasul Allah.

There is no god but God and Muhammad is the prophet of God.

Last night I was scared. I knew that I was going to do it. I knew that I was going to say it, but it frightened me that I was doing something so different than how I'd previously lived my life. I now understand why it's common for women who have converted to Islam change their name. You really do feel like you're beginning a new part of your life. Like you've begun a new chapter of your story. It's an inspiring feeling.

Today is my first attempt at salat, which is praying. I will try, but I hope that Allah will forgive that I am extremely inexperienced.
