Insulted

A florida preacher is planning a Quran burning on September 11, 2010. He and his church believe that god has called them to burn the Quran to send a message to radical Muslims.

The mere thought of my precious Quran burning brings bile to my throat. How can anyone be so hateful? It's disgusting. It is not only making the radical muslims more hostile, it is insulting the muslims that have nothing to do with terrorism. Our holy book is being burned by these so called Christians who say they are doing God's work. This is NOT what your Jesus would want you to do. It's not helping any situation. It's only going to cause more damage. We are at war in Afghanistan! A predominantly Islamic country!!! As a marine wife, I am terrified for what kind of effect this will have overseas. I don't even want to think about it! Muslims who are not even "radical muslims" will be outraged. We are boosting the Talibans recruitment, people!!! WTF

If anything, I'm hoping that people will see that the best way to retaliate for this horrible act, will be to open a Quran and read it. See the message. Read what Allah says to us.

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah

  1. I'm with ya, girl! I'm mad that they're stupid enough to do that. Like you said, it's not gonna solve the problem (but make it worse). I'm more concerned about the safety of our troops overseas if they do this act. It is one of those things that makes me embarrassed to be a christian if other christians behave this way.

  2. I agree with you in that there will be grave consequences if this takes place. However, I would ask you to think about one thing...the Quran is your Holy book and you want it to be respected. And Christians have the Bible as their Holy Book. You are so outraged at this one preacher in Florida and I am not arguing that this may not be a wise decision for him to do this. However, do you realize that everyday, Muslims and people of other faiths put Christians in prison, burn their Bibles and even burn their homes and churches all over the world? Where is the outcry against that? I respect faithful Muslims who stand in their faith...but, before you say this event is disgusting and insulting....maybe you should consider the way Christians around the world have been mistreated and tortured simply because they do not claim the faith of those often times "Muslim" nations.

And one last thing...you are offended and insulted by this situation with the preacher in Florida. But, he and many other Christians are very offended by the Mosque that is set to be built on ground zero in New York.

There are two sides to every coin...if the outcry is made for one side...then maybe the cry should also be made for the other?

Take care and may your God bless you greatly!

    With respect,
    Dayna

  3. I will never condone anyone who has the complete and utter disregard to burn the Holy Bible, Dayna. There is never an excuse for that. I don't care if they are Muslim or not, there is no excuse for that disrespect.

And I don't appreciate how you have assumed that I have not considered the Christians that suffer religious persecution around the world, because I have. I am still married to a Christian, you know and I do still care deeply for his beliefs. Intolerence is not a part of Islam, contrary to the popular stereotype.

I'm interested that you seem to think that a cry for the Christian's should be made at a "Christian" Quran burning. Even through the trials Christians have suffered at the hands of Muslim rule, does that truly condone a Quran burning to you? Is that what Jesus preached?
